Regal Behind the Scenes

Problem

Problems often originate from communication breakdowns between food concessions and inventory, which results in loss of concession sales and poor customer experiences.

Solution

Regal Behind The Scenes is an inventory assistance platform service that enables Regal Management to assess and respond to inventory and floor staff needs, unlike Kronos & Ulti Pro.

Team

To create our solution, I worked in a group and we used research methods such as empirical studies, observations, task analysis, and interviews. These tools helped us develop our solution of a smart tablet, smartwatch and iPhone to solve the problem of communication between managers and floor staff which results in loss of concession sales and poor customer experiences.

Scope of all Data.

The two surveys had a total of 201 surveyed participants consisting of movie-goers, floor staff, bartenders and managers at regal theaters. At the theaters users were observed and recorded performing various tasks. We also interviewed two workers, two managers, and six movie-goers.

User Archetypes.

With the collected data my team and I created three personas a manager, a employee and, a movie- goer. These perosnas were real life target audience. Creating personas this helped in brainstorming soutions guilded by how well the needs of the individual user were being met.

Journey maps

When creating the solution you must begin visualizing the journey of the design. With these Journey maps gave a great way to give the target user a scenario of the goals and needs your product is proving for the problem. Above Pablo is realizes during a rush ithe theater is out of butter and distrups the movie goer experience.

Sketching User Experience

Lack of information: Pablo the manager feels he is never informed about important information regarding inventory. He constantly has to yell at floor staff for not reporting problems to him sooner. This causes Pablo to need to double check many things he shouldn’t have to.

Interaction Modeling

The tablet allows for access to large amounts of information all in one place, helping managers like Pablo always know what’s happening in his theater. The tablet lets all data become organized through its collection from the theater’s Ibeacon and smartwatches. The correlations that can be derived from the data can be usedto fix problems that otherwise would go unnoticed at the theater.
